From the start I knew Shawn and Sierra would be an awesome couple to work with. When they told me they wanted to do things differently then others and said they would be having a caricature artist at their reception and their ceremony at the Zoo... I knew we would be a right fit!
The Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was held at the Red River Zoo (yes you read that right!) and the weather couldn't have been more perfect for October in North Dakota. I provided the ceremony sound and microphone for which Shawn's sister was the officiant and did a fantastic job! Sierra's father being from France and still having family ties there wanted to make sure that background was present throughout the entire day. At they ceremony they had a prayer done in both French and English, this meant a lot to both family and friends. Their recessional song choice was 'Be My Forever by Christina Perri and Ed Sheeran'.
The First Dance
The reception was held at Delta Hotel in Fargo ND. After cocktail hour the bridal party was introduced to 'I'll be there for you by The Rembrandts' (aka the theme song from FRIENDS the TV show). Sierra and her bridesmaids really enjoy watching FRIENDS, in fact some might say obsessed :). During speeches/toasts I think I counted 5 different times the show was quoted.
After speeches and dinner we went into their first official dance as husband and wife, 'Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley'. Following, Sierra danced with her father to a song by a French artist named 'Johnny Hallyday called Always' and Shawn danced with his mother to 'My Wish by Rascal Flatts'. I invited to newlyweds back out onto the dance floor and we did a 'reverse' anniversary dance and recognize the grandparents who had been married the longest, 61 years!! A mix of oldies, sing alongs, and 90's hip hop kept the dance floor going all night. We ended the night with the classic 'Piano Man'!
Thank you Shaw and Sierra!
